Hello
Mrs. Elizabeth Pugsley
Founder

With 14 years of experience as a qualified primary teacher and current VIT registration, Elizabeth brings a strong foundation in educational best practice and a deep passion for supporting students in mathematics. Over the past two years, this experience has expanded through tutoring, working closely with learners of all abilities to build confidence, deepen understanding, and foster a positive attitude toward maths.

A belief in the power of genuine rapport shapes every interaction - creating learning environments where students feel safe, supported, and capable. This student-centred approach is backed by years of classroom experience and strengthened through close connections within the Lilydale community, including local schools and families.
This blend of expertise, empathy, and community connection defines Elizabeth’s approach as an educator.
The Beginning of The Maths Link
After ten years of full-time classroom teaching, followed by casual relief work and private tutoring during maternity leave, it became clear that a more flexible, family-friendly path was needed. Continuing to work with students, especially in maths, remained deeply fulfilling, and narrowing the focus to this subject felt like a natural next step.

The Maths Link was born from that combination: a love of teaching, a desire to specialise in mathematics, and the practical need for a career that allowed for both professional purpose and personal balance.
As life evolves, so does the shape of work. The decision to launch a small, independent tutoring business brought with it the freedom to stay true to what matters most: helping students feel confident, capable, and empowered in their learning.

The Maths Link represents not just a career move, but a heartfelt commitment to meaningful, student-focused education.
